Burgers, brews, big prizes and bigger hearts — join us for a decade of giving back.
For Frankie 💚
On May 14, 2013, my son Frankie Gordie Kirkby passed away from Mitochondrial Disease, shortly after his first birthday.
Frankie was a very happy and healthy baby, so this was a complete shock to us. We had no idea anything was wrong until his eyes turned yellow two days after his birthday, and we took him to the hospital. Within three weeks, the disease had affected all of his major organs, and he passed away at Canuck Place in Vancouver.
As Frankie's mom, I feel it is my duty to raise as much awareness and as many funds as possible — in Frankie's memory, for all the other children who have lost their battle with Mitochondrial Disease, and for those who continue to fight.

About the Disease
Mitochondria are tiny structures inside almost every cell in the body. Their job is to turn the food and oxygen we take in into energy. When they begin to fail, cells stop working — or die. Mitochondrial Disease is a genetic disease that affects many children.

The Cause
100% of the funds raised at the Frankie G Pub Night are donated to MitoCanada, allocated across three areas: awareness, support, and research.
MitoCanada was started by a group of parents who had lost loved ones to Mitochondrial Disease, or who have loved ones living with it today. The foundation supports Canadians affected by the disease and invests in research working toward better answers.
Every burger, bid, and toonie tossed on July 18th helps power that work. Thank you for being part of it.
